Voter Registration Deadline Extended

The voter registration deadline in South Carolina has been extended until October 17.
Would you like to learn more about voting? As a voter with a disability, you have the right to:
- Vote privately and independently
- Have an accessible polling place
- Have wheelchair accessible voting booths
- Voting equipment that is accessible to voters who are blind or who have low vision (audio ballot is only available during federal elections)
- Bring your service animal with you into your polling place
- Use curbside voting
- Seek assistance from workers at the polling place who have been trained to use the accessible voting machine
- Bring someone to help you vote (including a friend, family member, caregiver, assisted living provider, or almost anyone else, but not your employer or union representative).
If you have a disability related problem voting, we urge you to report your problem immediately to P&A. We will use this information to help you cast your ballot and advocate for the changes needed to prevent these problems in future elections. Some problems voters may experience are:
- Inaccessible polling places (steps, no accessible parking)
- Inaccessible ballots (no audio jack, refused assistance)
- Difficulty in voting curbside (no one checks curbside site for voters)
- Discrimination, such as remarks about the person’s disability or unwillingness to assist the voter
