Public Notice About The Client Assistance Program
The Client Assistance Program (CAP) in South Carolina helps individuals know their rights about services from the SC Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living Centers.
The CAP program is currently operated by the SC Department of Administration through its Office of Executive Policy and Programs. The Governor has determined there is good cause to move the CAP from the SC Department of Administration to Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. (P&A).
Following federal requirements, the Governor has notified both SC Department of Administration and P&A of the proposed redesignation. The estimated effective date is August 25, 2017.
A public hearing was held July 24, 2017, at the state office of the Vocational Rehabilitation Department in West Columbia. The full notice about the redesignation process is available on the CAP website at: http://www.admin.sc.gov/executive-policy-programs/client-assistance-program
Members of the public were also allowed to make comments about CAP redesignation directly to the SC Department of Administration by August 7, 2017.
CAP redesignation to P&A is currently pending.
